Duties

You will develop, plan and support community engagement initiatives and outreach programs with local, regional and national audiences.
You will assist with developing brand guidance, messaging standards and visual identity recommendations.
You will conduct audience and market analyses to identify public perception, trend, communication influencing recruiting and stakeholder engagement.
You will assist with creating briefing materials, campaign themes, social media guidance, presentations and speeches.
You will coordinate opportunities to engage with the community involving midshipmen, faculty, staff and leadership.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Understanding institutional branding initiatives and strategies; 2) developing and refining institutional messaging frameworks, brand voice, positioning guidance, and strategic communication themes; 3) managing community outreach and engagement initiatives; and 4) supporting strategic communication campaigns.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree

or

3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree

or

LL.M., if related
