The City of Berkeley invites you to apply for the position of Library Assistant at the Berkeley Public Library! In this role, you would have the opportunity to assist with the opening and closing procedures of the library, creating displays, shelving materials, shelf reading, assisting patrons with digital library resources and databases, additional customer service skills, engaging with the community in a friendly library setting and provide support with library events and outreach, and opportunities to work on system-wide work groups.

Currently, we have four part-time 30-hour Library Assistant positions and one full-time Library Assistant position open. Four are in our Circulation Services division, and one is at the West Branch.

Applicants passing all examination phases will have their names placed on an employment eligible list that hiring departments will use to conduct final selection interviews slated for a date to be determined.
