YWCA USA is on a mission to eliminate racism, empower women, and promote peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all. We are one of the oldest and largest women's organizations in the nation, serving over 2 million women, girls, and their families.

YWCA has been at the forefront of the most pressing social movements — from voting rights to civil rights, from affordable housing to pay equity, from violence prevention to health care reform. Today, we combine programming and advocacy in order to generate institutional change in three key areas: racial justice and civil rights, empowerment and economic advancement, and health and safety.

JOB RESPONSIBLITIES:

Grant Prospecting & Relationship Building (20%):

· Research potential funding sources (foundations, corporations, government agencies).

· Identify funding opportunities that align with YWCA’s mission, goals, and strategic priorities.

· Interpret funder guidelines and ensure consistency with YWCA of Rochester & Monroe County policies.

· Cultivate relationships with funders through networking, meetings, and communications.

Grant Proposal Writing (40%):

· Write proposal narratives, including needs assessments, project descriptions, program outcomes, etc.

· Compile grant documents, review budgets, and edit application material.

Reporting & Compliance (20%):

· Manage grant progress reports.

· Ensure compliance with grant terms.

Grant Administration (15%):

· Act as a resource and subject matter expert regarding external funding opportunities.

· Manage grant application process internally with appropriate program managers and relevant community partners.

· Provide project management for large, complex proposal submissions.

· Monitor grant deadlines and reporting requirements.

· Maintain accurate records of grant-related data in donor database.

Other (5%):

· Participate in at least 16 hours of diversity training annually.

· Attend at least 80% of YWCA staff meetings annually.

· Participate in at least one internal agency committee annually.

· Perform other duties as requested.

· Demonstrates compliance with all appropriate financial data confidentiality, HIPAA Privacy and Security Standards.

RELEVANT BACKGROUND

Experience and Education Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in Nonprofit Management, Public Policy, English, Business or relevant experience.

· Two or more years of experience writing private foundation, federal and state grants in areas of human/social services and/or mental health is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Must be able to demonstrate successful track record of grant research, preparation and submission and securing of funds from diverse funding sources (local, state, federal, private, and/or corporate).
Must have thorough knowledge and understanding of the grant development process.
Ability to work both independently and with a team including building collective impact initiatives with community partners.
Detail-oriented, adaptable, organized and demonstrated ability to successfully manage multiple projects and tasks in a deadline driven environment.
Must be proficient with computers, data-tracking solutions, possess excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
Must have the ability to interact with a diverse public.
