We are seeking a qualified and dedicated Correctional Security Supervisor to coordinate, supervise, and direct the security operations at a state adult correctional facility. The ideal candidate will have experience in correctional security and demonstrate strong leadership and organizational skills to ensure the safe and secure operation of the facility.
Key Responsibilities:- Supervision & Coordination: Oversee and direct correctional security functions at the facility, including security personnel, inmate counts, and search procedures for contraband and escape materials.
- Shift Supervision: May serve as a shift supervisor, responsible for managing assigned units and functions in a large facility or as the chief of security in smaller facilities.
- Emergency Response Management: Serve as the commander of a correctional emergency response team, organizing training exercises and coordinating emergency activities.
- Investigation & Incident Management: Conduct investigations related to incidents occurring during assigned shifts, ensuring compliance with security protocols and facility regulations.
- Security Procedures: Coordinate and supervise riot and escape procedures, ensuring that all security measures are followed effectively.
- Scheduling & Records Management: Prepare daily work schedules for security staff and maintain appropriate records related to employees and residents.
- Staff Inspections: Perform regular inspections of security staff to ensure readiness and compliance with facility regulations and standards.
- Collaboration with Law Enforcement: Act as liaison to local law enforcement agencies, providing information and facilitating court appearances and file updates.
- Policy Development: Contribute to the development and revision of institutional policies, rules, and regulations as part of the facility’s administrative staff.
Qualifications:- Experience: Prior experience in correctional security, law enforcement, or a related field, preferably in a supervisory capacity.
- Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead and manage security personnel, providing direction and supervision.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare reports and collaborate effectively with law enforcement agencies.
- Problem-Solving: Strong investigative and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage complex situations and emergencies.
- Physical Fitness: Ability to conduct inspections, and physically participate in facility security procedures.
