The Village of Bloomingdale is seeking qualified applicants for two (2) full-time Maintenance Worker II positions with the Public Works Department - Buildings & Grounds Division. The purpose of this position is to perform a variety of semi-skilled to skilled tasks in the maintenance, repair, and construction of public works and utility facilities. The Maintenance Worker II reports to the Buildings & Grounds Supervisor.
The pay range for this position is $27.65 per hour (approximate annual equivalent $57,512) to $38.40 per hour (approximate annual equivalent $79,872). Typical work hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. The position is full-time and non-exempt for overtime calculations. The position is eligible for the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 150 and receives a comprehensive benefits package including paid time off, pension, and health, dental, and life insurance.
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
• Maintains Village buildings and grounds.
• Inspects, maintains, and repairs mechanical systems, including HVAC systems.
• Tests alarm systems and documents results.
• Performs minor plumbing, electrical, and carpentry repairs.
• Maintains door locking systems.
• Repairs fixtures and furniture.
• Prepares various documents and reports.
• Assists with snow plowing and ice control functions.
• May assist other divisions with tasks as needed.
• Observes safe work practices and maintains regular attendance.
This position requires performance of moderately physically demanding work, performance during adverse weather conditions, and performance in confined spaces. This position may require the employee to carry a cell phone and respond to callbacks. This position may require overtime work and work on nights, holidays, and weekends.
Candidates must possess a high school diploma or GED with vocational/technical training in the construction trades or a related field with two to three years of public works experience or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. The successful candidate must also possess a valid Illinois Commercial Driver’s License – Class A with a tanker endorsement within six months of employment. Failure to obtain the CDL within the specified time frame may result in termination.
