Hiring Range $28.78-$38.55
Starting Salary May Be Adjusted Depending On Experience.
- Associate's Degree or higher in Engineering, Building Science or a related field AND three (3) years or more of experience as a Building Inspector, Engineer, Architect, Superintendent or Foreman involved in construction, or any combination of these;
OR
High School Diploma/GED
AND seven (7) years or more of experience as a Building Inspector, Engineer, Architect, Superintendent or Foreman involved in construction, or any combination of these;
- Current certification as either a commercial or a residential Building Inspector by the International Code Council (ICC) or certification must be obtained within one (1) year from the date of hire.
- Possession of a valid driver's license and the ability to obtain/maintain a City of Hoover Driver's Permit.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience working with all phases of construction to include residential and commercial.
- Responsible for the inspection of construction sites and projects to ensure compliance with City ordinances, specifications, building codes and reviewed plans;
- Reviews, Alteration and repairs, structural safety and conformity to established code requirements and submitted plans and specifications, for both residential and commercial structures
- Deals with contractors and the public on matters or corrections in order to comply with regulations, notifies contractors of any violations and takes appropriate action to ensure violations are corrected;
- Prepares daily inspection reports, drawings and design, keeps records, checks for possession of permits and licenses;
- Deals with contractors and the public on matters relating to building regulations
- Answers zoning and code questions;
- Performs final inspections of construction projects to assure overall conformity to code requirements;
- Attend classes, seminars and conferences to remain current on code changes and other applications as they occur;
- Performs related work as required.
