PAY: FC 2080: $81,713.94 - $111,831.22 Annual salary
STATUS: Sworn Fire, 2080 work schedule (40 hours per week) Eligible for Benefits & URS Fire Retirement
PREREQUISITES
Applicants Must Meet The Following Criteria
- Advanced EMT or Paramedic Certification
- Valid CPR Certification
- Utah/NFPA Firefighter 1 and 2 (NFPA FF-1 & FF-2)
- Utah/NFPA ADO - Pumper & Aerial Certification
- Utah/NFPA Fire Instructor 1 Certification
- Utah/NFPA Company Officer Fire Inspector Course
- Utah/NFPA Fire Officer 1
- Hazardous Materials First Responder -Awareness and Operations (NFPA HazMat Awareness & Operations)
- National Incident Management System
- Employees will be required to complete/possess IS100, IS200, ICS300, ICS400, IS700, IS 703, IS800. Any not possessed shall be completed within 2 years.
Copies of ALL prerequisite certification certificates MUST be attached to application before the closing date for the applicant to be considered qualified as an outside candidate. For internal captain applications this will not be necessary as it has already been completed. Fire Certifications must be from either the Utah Fire Rescue Academy (UFRA) or any other certifying agency that provides an International Fire Service Accreditation (IFSAC) reciprocity certification. An IFSAC or Pro Board seal with a legible number must be present on copies of certificates including reciprocity.
Position Summary
To assist the Battalion Chief in the Training Division; assist, manage, and direct department-wide fire and EMS training per direction, ensure standardization of training across all three shifts, Fire Prevention and Fire Administration, ensure training is completed to maximize point values for the purposes of ISO ratings and maintain personnel certification requirements. Receives general direction from the Battalion Chief over Training Division. Performs the role of firefighter when needed to assist with daily staffing during training hours.
Preferred Prerequisites
- Two-year degree or greater from an accredited university.
Experience And Training Standards
- Candidates shall have six years total full-time experience with Ogden City Fire Department or a career fire department by the application deadline.
- Certifications, conferences, and attendance at the National Fire Academy (NFA) that are deemed necessary by the Fire Chief, Deputy Chief, and Training Battalion Chief.
- Candidates must have a valid Utah Driver License, capable of working in an emergency firefighting environment; work in intense life-threatening conditions; exposure to fire, smoke, bodily fluids, and noise; running, walking, crawling, climbing, stooping, and lifting; work in inclement weather conditions; may wear heavy protective equipment while working.
- Any combination of experience and education that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities may be qualifying.
