To coordinate the activities associated with a designated program of Dallas Animal Services through the planning, development of communications and support materials while creating relationships, reporting and metrics to further the goals of the program.

Job Description
The Animal Services Coordinator coordinates and facilitates the activities for the Animal Services Division of the City. Develops and plans communications, builds relationships, reports on metrics, and furthers the goals of the program.
Essential Functions
1 Plans, coordinates, and monitors the activities of the designated animal services program by actively engaging staff and public to coordinate services associated with the program goals; trains and educates staff and volunteers on programs and initiatives.
2 Composes, creates, and drafts public information, coordinates support functions, events and materials to promote the assigned program and DAS services at events; attends community meetings and functions.
3 Develops, coordinates, and promotes strategic partnerships and educational opportunities with community partners to provide comprehensive service delivery.
4 Designs and distributes information materials including electronic correspondence, newsletters, flyers and brochures.
5 Analyzes, maintains and monitors records and computer system to ensure accurate program information is available.
6 Coordinates and reconciles every bit report and aggressive animal encounter to ensure correct information is recorded; analyzes records, facilitates communication, coordinates case logistics, and ensures all appropriate safety measures are in place; updates and edits records or aggressive or dangerous dogs or animals.
7 Maintains and coordinates rescue program; fosters and builds positive relationships with community members; screens and approves new rescue partners and maintains files for active partners.
8 Prepares letters, memorandums, and general correspondences; coordinates animal transfers and rescue activities.
9 Researches identification tags, microchips, and various entries regarding animals; communicates with animal owners and responds to phone calls and other requests for information or inquiries.
10 Performs any and all other work as needed or assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Experience
- Four (4) years of customer service, volunteer coordination, and/or program management and coordination experience in a non-profit organization, educational or animal-related field.
EQUIVALENCIES
- Associate degree (or higher) in business, communications or related field plus two (2) years of the required experience will meet the education and experience requirements.
Other Requirements
- Availability to work various shifts including nights, weekends & holidays
- No Animal cruelty convictions.
- No Felony drug charges.
Departmental Note
Animal Service Coordinator – Rescue/Transport This position will work on the DAS Rescue Team, with a focus on growing our local and out-of-state rescue partnerships including developing and maintain a web-based database and streamlining our onboarding and outreach process for new licensed rescue organizations. This position will also oversee our out-of-state transport program including organizing large-scale transports and collaborating with both rescue and transport partners to build new routes across the country. The position requires handling, photographing as well as interpreting and performing basic animal evaluations and observation for animals of all sizes, breeds, species, energy levels, and strong customer services and program development skills. This position requires of minimum of one year of animal shelter and coordinator experience. A successful candidate will be a team player, a self-starter that requires little oversight, is highly efficient, organized, creative, and goal focused.
Salary Range
$53,810.41 - $62,480.26
