The City of Cuyahoga Falls is seeking a passionate and proactive Safety and Training Compliance Manager to lead our safety initiatives and manage our Commercial Entry Level Driver Training Program. This position offers variety, autonomy, and the chance to lead essential programs that ensure compliance with safety regulations and play a key role in training the next generation of skilled commercial drivers.
What You’ll Do:- Oversee and manage the city’s comprehensive safety and health programs, ensuring a safe and compliant work environment.
- Design and deliver engaging safety training for new and existing employees, covering essential safety procedures and regulations.
- Conduct safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify hazards and mitigate risks across all city departments.
- Serve as the lead instructor for the Commercial Driver Training Program, providing both classroom instruction and behind-the-wheel training on the driving range and the road.
- Ensure CDL training follows the established curriculum and meets all state and federal requirements, including FMSCA Entry-Level Driver Training regulations.
- Evaluate student progress and skills, ensuring they meet program objectives and are prepared for DOT testing.
- Maintain accurate student records in compliance with State of Ohio regulations, including attendance and daily logs.
- Coordinate and conduct CDL skills testing and ensure all required DOT testing is completed on time.
- Conduct preventative maintenance checks on training vehicles to ensure they are safe and operational.
- Stay up-to-date on regulations and best practices to continuously improve the training program and ensure compliance with industry standards.
What We're Looking for:- Valid Class A Ohio Commercial Driver's License (required).
- At least two years of experience operating a Class A commercial motor vehicle (required).
- Bachelor’s degree in Safety, HR, Public Administration, or related field (preferred)
- Experience in safety compliance or administration (preferred).
- Certification in safety management (required or must be obtained within one year of employment).
- A strong background in training and safety compliance, with the ability to work hands-on with trainees (preferred).
