Provides automotive and diesel maintenance support. Provides training to EMS staff on emergency vehicle systems, applies knowledge of automotive and diesel industries, and maintains updated tool inventory.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

- Provides preventative maintenance to EMS and suppression units.
- Installs brake systems including air and hydraulic systems on all City fire trucks, ambulances, vehicles, or equipment.
- Performs repair and maintenance on manual steering gears, power steering, and tandem axle suspensions.
- Performs oil changes, transmission services, coolant service, lube, minor repairs, oil sampling, and lighting repairs.
- Assists in maintaining good communication between staff, visitors, and other business contacts.
- Will be required to drive a City vehicle for City business use.
- Performs related work as required.

Required Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- At least one (1) year of experience in automotive mechanic or related experience.
Required Licenses or Certifications
- Valid Texas Driver License. If applicant holds an out-of-state license, a State of Texas Driver License must be obtained within 6 months of employment.
Desirable Licenses or Certifications
As part of the minimum requirements for all positions with the City of Laredo, a thorough background check and certified school transcripts will be required from all applicants who are offered employment.
