We Are Currently Seeking
A shelter assistant I to join our team and, under general supervision, perform all aspects of humane animal care duties to ensure animal safety and well-being.
Your Responsibilities Will Include
- Cleaning, disinfecting and maintaining shelter areas as assigned.
- Feeding, watering, and bathing animals.
- Providing humane sheltering services in compliance with State minimum standards and shelter policies.
- Safely and humanely handling animals, of unknown health and temperament.
- Contributing to the programs and services that support the shelter's live outcome goal.
- Ensuring the safety of animals and people in the shelter.
- Accurately maintaining all required records in the shelter's database.
- Assisting in unloading trucks, stocking shelter areas and storing materials.
- Maintaining facility and grounds in a clean, neat and organized manner.
- Hours: Varies Sunday through Saturday, 7:00 am to 6:00 pm including holidays.
- Regular and timely attendance is required.

Requirements And Skills
- Adherence to disease management and safety protocols.
- Ability to work with frequent interruptions and changes in priorities.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective communication and working relationships with city employees and the public.
Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience:
A High School Diploma or equivalent required; some experience working with animals is preferred.
Required Licenses Or Certifications
- Reliable transportation is required.
Physical Demands / Work Environment
- Work is performed in the City animal shelter; work involves moderate physical demands; must maintain a level of physical fitness to meet Department standards, and be able to lift up to 96 lbs.
