THE REGIONAL TRANSPORTATION COMMISSION (RTC) OF WASHOE COUNTY, NEVADA, an integrated transportation agency that serves as the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO), transit authority, and street and highway construction agency invites applications for the position of Engineer I or Engineer II.

THE JOB: Under general supervision, the Engineer I will manage technical (civil) engineering projects in design, construction & maintenance of transportation systems.
Under general supervision, the Engineer II will manage technical (civil) engineering projects in design, construction & maintenance of transportation systems and provide leadership in community outreach activities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Engineer I: Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a closely related field; AND two (2) years of experience in the design & construction of street & highway projects; OR any equivalent combination of education & experience that provides the required knowledge, skills & abilities. Requires a valid driver’s license at time of hire.
Engineer II: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a closely related field; AND three (3) years of professional civil engineering experience as a licensed engineer in construction, design or traffic engineering; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge and skills. Current registration as a Professional Civil Engineer required with ability to obtain registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Nevada within one year of hire. Requires valid driver’s license at time of hire.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Engineer I: The ideal candidate will have knowledge and experience in design & project management activities related to the delivery of street and highway civil engineering projects using various funding sources including state and federal grant programs.
Engineer II: The ideal candidate will have knowledge and experience in design & project management activities related to the delivery of street & highway civil engineering and/or traffic engineering projects for state and local agencies using various funding sources including state and federal grant programs.
