Perform advanced-level mechanic/electrical/PM maintenance on gasoline, propane and diesel-powered automotive engines and/or heave duty off road construction equipment.
As a senior-level mechanic, inspect, troubleshoot and repair cars, trucks and/or heavy off-road equipment.

AFTER A SUFFICIENT NUMBER OF APPLICATIONS IS RECEIVED
1. Performs simple to highly complex computerized diagnostic testing/evaluations using any appropriate equipment to diagnose and repair vehicles and equipment
2. Inspects, troubleshoots and repairs all vehicles and vehicular related equipment assigned to the precinct or other County facility/unit
3. Tests equipment for safe and efficient operation
4. Directs the work of other mechanics or helpers, teaching/instructing them in the appropriate procedures and practices. Relays instructions from supervisors
5. May drive such vehicles as winch trucks to haul equipment
6. Makes road calls and either repairs equipment in the field or transports equipment safely to the repair facility
7. Orders or requests the acquisition of required parts and supplies for assigned projects/tasks
8. Designs, fabricates and builds special projects for vehicles and equipment
9. Performs all other related duties as assigned

Four (4) full-time years of work experience as a mechanic.TO APPLY, must have a
valid Texas Class "C" driver license.
If hired, must provide proof of educational attainment at new hire processing.
Tarrant County will conduct background checks on new hires that will include a criminal background check related to convictions and deferred adjudications in the past seven years and may include credit reports, motor vehicle records, employment records and educational attainment. A conviction or deferred adjudication is not an automatic bar to employment. Each case is considered individually.
While performing the duties of this position, the incumbent is regularly required to stoop, bend, climb, pull and push.
