  • Maintain accurate records of each animal's feeding, medication, and any special instructions.
  • Document any observed changes in behavior, appetite, or health status.
  • Assist in maintaining inventory of supplies, including food, medications, cleaning supplies, etc.
  • **Customer Service:**
  • Provide excellent customer service to citizens, including answering phones & inquiries, providing updates on adoptable pets, and addressing any concerns or requests.
  • Assist with Adoption appointments, Lost pet inquiries, impounding.
  • **Animal Handling and Restraint:**
  • Safely and skillfully handle animals during various procedures, including feeding, cleaning, grooming, and medical treatments.
  • Use appropriate techniques for restraint to ensure the safety of both the animal and staff.
  • **Grooming and Basic Medical Procedures:**
  • Assist with grooming tasks such as bathing, brushing, and nail trimming as needed.
  • Support shelter staff in basic medical procedures, such as vaccinations, wound cleaning, and administering prescribed medications.
  • **Facility Maintenance:**
  • Assist in the general maintenance of the facility, including cleaning and disinfecting common areas, equipment, and outdoor spaces.
  • Report any maintenance or repair needs to the appropriate supervisor.
  • **Compliance and Safety:**
  • Adhere to all relevant regulations, guidelines, and protocols related to animal care and facility operations.
  • Follow SOP’s & SOG’s to minimize risks to both animals and staff.
  • **Other duties as assigned**
  • Complete other tasks and duties as assigned.

Education, Experience, or Certification

  • Strong knowledge of animal behavior and basic healthcare.
  • Ability to handle and restrain animals of various sizes and temperaments.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Physical fitness and stamina for tasks involving lifting, bending, and walking.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in animal care or related field are preferred.
  • Any animal or veterinary certifications are welcome.

  • The role may require working in various weather conditions and may involve exposure to animal dander and cleaning chemicals.
  • Flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, may be required depending on the facility's operating hours.
