Red Hill Elementary School is located on the island of Oahu in Honolulu, HI and serves students from Aliamanu Military Reservation, Red Hill Makai and Moanalua Hillside Apartments. The school has celebrated 50 years of service to the children of Hawaii. The school serves approximately 420 students, 70% of whom are military dependents. Support groups include our Parent-Teacher-Student Association, Student Council, and School Community Council. Red Hill Elementary School also enjoys a military partnership through our PTSA. Our school colors are red, white and blue. We are known as the Red Hill Raiders. Student recognition assemblies (Raiders of the Quarter) are held on a quarterly basis. As a Tribes Learning Community school, we focus on the whole child. We have a dedicated staff that works on a beautiful campus with an incredible view of Honolulu. Extracurricular activities include Student Council, Campus Patrol Officers, and a Track team. Incorporating technology in our school and curriculum is a major focus as our students are 21st-century learners. We strive to achieve 21st-century educational excellence for all of our students. Red Hill Elementary was selected as a 2014 Blue Ribbon School in the area of closing the achievement gap.The Hawaii State Department of Education is committed to hiring highly qualified teachers in every classroom. With the exception of designated Career and Technology Education (CTE) positions, the minimum qualification to apply for a teacher, librarian or counselor position is a Bachelor's Degree.
If you are hired without completing a Teacher's Education Program, you have a maximum of 3 years to obtain a valid Hawaii teaching license. You must enroll in a Program to continue employment with the Department. Within each year of employment, you must satisfactorily demonstrate active pursuit towards meeting Hawaii licensing requirements, as set forth by the Hawaii Teacher Standards Board (HTSB). It is your responsibility to ensure the program you have enrolled is aligned with the teaching line you are hired in.
