What We Need

We are seeking a dynamic and results-oriented Economic Development Director to join our team and play a crucial role in shaping the future of our community. The Economic Development Director will serve as a liaison between the Town and the business community. This role is vital in attracting, retaining, and supporting businesses that contribute to the economic vitality of Harrisburg.

Key responsibilities include working closely with the Town Council, staff, and community stakeholders to implement the Harrisburg Strategic Economic Development Plan. This includes providing guidance and support to new and existing businesses, identifying opportunities to attract new businesses, and collaborating with community partners to communicate economic development initiatives to the public effectively.

Desirable Candidate

A successful candidate has a proven track record of business development and professional experience in economic growth. Candidates must also have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, proficiency in data analysis and market research, and the ability to build and maintain strong relationships.

This position requires graduation from a college or university with a bachelor’s degree in economic development, business or other related field supplemented by training in economic development and considerable professional experience in business or economic development, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Possession of a valid North Carolina driver’s license is required.

Hiring range for this position is $97,920 - $121,802. Upon hire, candidate will be eligible for a $4,500 sign-on bonus.
