Minimum Qualifications

• Graduation from a law school accredited by an organization
  
  

recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA)

or by the United States Department of Education (USDE) with a

Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) or Juris Doctor (J.D.).

• Three years full-time, wage-earning experience as a licensed
  
  

attorney.

• Experience in the supervision of employees preferred.
• Experience as a legal counsel in a governmental agency preferred.
• Experience in administrative, contract, criminal, or labor/employment
  
  

law preferred.

• Program development experience in a legal field preferred.
• Litigation experience in state or federal court preferred.
• Must maintain a current active license to practice law in the
  
  

State of Texas during employment with Texas Department of Criminal

Justice (TDCJ) through the State Bar of Texas.

• The salary for an ERS Retiree (or non-contributing member) may be
  
  

reduced by 2.5%.**
