WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING HERE AT TEAM RC

The duties listed below are examples of the work typically performed by employees in this class. An employee may not be assigned all duties listed and may be assigned duties which are not listed below. 

Oversees and monitors the tasks involved in maintaining official City documents and records including agendas, minutes, ordinances, resolutions, contracts, agreements, deeds and other legal documents and official records of the City Council. Interfaces with other departments in coordinating and implementing the City-wide Records Management Plan, training, records inventory, and records retention schedule; participates in the implementation of electronic records management applications and in the creation of policies and procedures for records management functions, programs, and services to the organization including electronic systems for inventory, records retirement, and archiving. Oversees the City's records storage facility.

Plans, prioritizes, assigns, supervises, reviews, and participates in the work of staff responsible for records management program services and Department activities. Coordinates research and records retrieval for formal responses to subpoenas, legal discovery, and Public Records Act Requests; ensures efficient delivery of accurate information to City staff, public agencies, and citizens while providing outstanding customer service. Maintains current with legislation, Government Codes, and other legal requirements pertaining to Document Management and Records Programs systems and procedures.

Participates in the development and implementation of department goals and objectives; participates in the development of the department budget and in budget administration.
Assists Director in the day-to-day operations of the office. May performs duties in the absence of the Deputy Director. Performs other related duties as assigned.

ARE YOU QUALIFIED

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in business administration, public administration, or a related field preferred.

Three years of progressively responsible records management level experience in the custody and maintenance of official documents, records and files, including two years in a supervisory capacity.

Substitution: Seven years of professional-level work experience in business administration, progressively responsible records management level experience, including two years in a supervisory capacity.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of operations, rules and industry best practices for record keeping including records management systems, policies, and procedures for the identification, organization, storage, protection, retention, and disposition of records. Automated records and information management and imaging software. Organization and functions of the assigned municipal department; methods and procedures of budget preparation; computer applications in administrative functions; general office procedures. Ability to perform specialized administrative tasks; conduct research, perform analysis, and prepare and present reports of findings; work independently; interpret and apply related laws, ordinances and policies; communicate effectively both orally and in writing; meet the public in situations requiring diplomacy and tact; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships. Principles of supervision, training, and performance evaluation.

  • Retirement – California Public Employee's Retirement System (CalPERS)
  • Medical - $1,325 per month City paid. (Effective the first full pay period in December 2024, City-paid medical increases to $1,375)

  • Deferred Compensation – 2% of base salary. City will match up to $50 per month and 1% of monthly base salary per month

  • Administrative Leave – 50 hours per fiscal year
  • Vacation - 80 hours per year increasing to 180 hours after 15 years of service. Buyback option of up to 160 hours per fiscal year.
