The Division
The
Recreation Services Division provides recreational and educational opportunities for persons of all ages and abilities. The Division is responsible for overseeing recreation activities including youth and adult sports, management of city facilities (park buildings) and a variety of special events throughout the year.
The Position
The Community Services Department Recreation Division is seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented professional to serve as a
Recreation Supervisor. This position oversees Senior Programs, Teen Programs, Early Childhood Education Programs, and Special Events, ensuring the successful planning, coordination, and execution of these programs. The Recreation Supervisor will supervise part-time staff and volunteers, engage with program participants and the public, manage program publicity, assist with budget implementation, and oversee scheduling and operations at the Bartlett Senior Citizens Center, the ATTIC Teen Center, and other community locations.

- Note: The Eligible List (list for hire) resulting from this recruitment will be valid for six months and will be used to fill future vacant Recreation Supervisor positions in any Division of the Community Services Department. QUALIFICATION GUIDELINES
Education
Graduation from college with a degree in Recreation, or related field, or completion of required coursework within a recreation related specially, or specific and substantial full-time experience which prepares one to function in this position may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis. Related part-time experience will be credited in proportion to the average amount of time worked per year.

License Required
A valid California Motor Vehicle Operators Class 3 License.
Ideal Candidate
Successful Candidates Will Possess The Following
- Public sector experience in Recreation;
- Experience in all aspects of program implementation including creation and design;
- Supervisory experience of employees and volunteers;
- Experience in volunteer outreach;
- Advanced experience with marketing and social media;
- Experience working within a budget;
- Computer and software skills including Microsoft Office (Word and Excel);
- Ability to work independently;
- Ability to conduct research to find out class trends and community needs and prepare proposals for pilot projects;
- Strategic problem solving skills and ability to solve issues or problems from a broad perspective;
- Willingness to implement new programs and initiatives;
- Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with those contacted in the course of work ; and
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

The City provides a Cash In-Lieu payment of $400 per month for eligible full-time employees for as long as the employee opts-out of medical coverage
City provides a $50,000 life insurance policy
Night Shift Premium (sec. 3.2)
5% above average base hourly salary when ½ or more of shift is worked after 4:00 p.m. or before 8:00 a.m.
