The City of Riviera Beach, Florida ("the City") was originally incorporated in 1922. It is located in the east-central portion of Palm Beach County, approximately five miles north of West Palm Beach and 70 miles north of Miami. The City is bounded to the north by the Town of Lake Park, to the south by the Town of Mangonia Park, the Town of Palm Beach Shores, and the City of West Palm Beach, to the east by the Atlantic Ocean, and to the west primarily by unincorporated Palm Beach County.

Riviera Beach covers approximately 8.53 square miles with an estimated population of 39,000. The City is primarily an urban area where services and industry play a major role in the economy. It is a vibrant and diverse full-service municipality known for its rich cultural heritage, thriving waterfront, and economic opportunities. The City is committed to enhancing public services, economic development, and infrastructure investment.

For Fiscal Year 2025, the City's total operating budget is $489.1 million, which includes a General Fund budget of $112.2 million and a capital budget of $289 million. Major capital projects include a new water treatment facility, water and sewer infrastructure improvements, municipal facilities, street enhancements, parks and recreational developments, and marina upgrades. Enterprise funds account for approximately 70% of the total budget, encompassing operations for water, wastewater, stormwater, solid waste collection, the marina, and parking. Riviera Beach remains committed to innovation, sustainability, and economic growth through its ongoing capital improvement projects, public safety initiatives, and community development programs.

The City has a municipal beach, one of the largest in northern Palm Beach County which fronts the Atlantic Ocean and includes beach volleyball courts, a boardwalk, and shower and restroom facilities. The City also offers a variety of recreational facilities. Shelling, snorkeling, water skiing, scuba diving, power boating, sailing and fishing are popular activities in the City. The City has 12 parks, providing among its facilities, swimming pools, ball fields, fitness trails, racquetball, basketball and tennis courts, playgrounds, splash pads, two amphitheaters, and an aquatics complex. Peanut Island, a spoil island in the Intracoastal Waterway which runs through the City, is a popular destination for recreational boaters. The City is in close proximity to several attractions including the Palm Beach Zoo at Dreher Park, Rapids Water Park, Lion Country Safari, the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts, Norton Museum of Art, Henry Flagler Museum, and Manatee Lagoon.
