Animal Services Division Manager (NCSD Division Manager)

Full-time position available with the Neighborhood Services Department, Animal Services Division, located at 7077 Elmwood Ave.

Salary Range: $6,489-$9,734/monthly

Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

Responsibilities

• Develops and organizes strategies to implement procedures to meet long and animal control and services goals and objectives.
• Institute policies and procedures.
• Train and manage divisional staff. Interpret and apply ordinances related to animal control operations.
• Integrate multiple sources of information and data into clear and concise reports and presentations.
• Deliver presentations to City Council and other interested parties on animal control matters.
• Prepare and recommend amendments to and revision of related codes and ordinances as directed.
• Promote and maintain effective working relationships with interested internal and external stakeholders.
• Promote and support community engagement efforts to educate and connect with residents.
• Stay up to date on all aspects of animal control including trends and new regulations instituted by other municipalities.
• Performs related duties as required, including emergency responses as deemed applicable by the Director of The Neighborhood Services Department.
  
  

Qualifications

REQUIRES an accredited bachelor's degree and 7 years of related professional experience of a progressively responsible nature in public or private sector program that includes one of the following: neighborhood preservation, enforcement or engagement; environmental policy and/or compliance; cultural arts; resident/business customer center management; resident assistance programs to include 2 years of supervisory experience in the related areas; OR an accredited Master's degree and 5 years of related professional experience of a progressively responsible nature in public or private sector program that includes one of the following: neighborhood preservation, enforcement or engagement; environmental policy and/or compliance; cultural arts; resident/business customer center management; resident assistance programs to include 2 years of supervisory experience in the related areas. Preference given for Animal Control experience.

For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained.

Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.

If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
