Bachelor’s Degree or higher
Three (3) years or more of experience in economic development, business development, local government, small business assistance, development, finance or commercial and/or industrial real estate
Possession of a valid driver's license and the ability to obtain/maintain a City of Hoover Driver's Permit
Supports the Office of Economic & Community Development’s strategic goals to meet objectives and increase economic and community development opportunities.
Responsible for maintaining a working knowledge of economic development incentives and sites and buildings.
Responsible for providing support to economic development marketing events, including assistance to prospect companies.
Responsible for utilizing the department’s CRM platform to record relative data regarding new and expanding projects in Hoover.
Supports retail development marketing and recruitment efforts.
Under direction of the Economic Development Manager, develops and prepares materials that provide a clear definition of Hoover’s advantages and assets.
Supports development of responses to requests for information (RFIs) and requests for proposals (RFPs) from site selection consultants, company representatives, and local, state and regional economic development partners.
Supports grant proposals.
Developing effective marketing brochures and other pitch materials, in conjunction with other Office of Economic & Community Development Staff.
Initiates contact with businesses interested in investing in the community.
Initiates efforts to attract businesses that meet the City’s target industries.
Builds and maintains relationships with lead generating organizations and other partners to encourage investment in Hoover through project location or expansion opportunities.
Engages in a variety of activities designed to retain local industries.
Analyzes the needs of present and prospective employers; coordinates efforts to address these needs with private industry and local/regional/state partners.
Establishes and maintains communications and cooperative efforts with local businesses and business organizations.
Attends meetings of public boards and commissions as a representative of the Office of Economic & Community Development; provides reports and proposals for use in public meetings.
Keeps immediate supervisor and designated others fully and accurately informed concerning work progress, including present and potential work problems and suggestions for new or improved ways of addressing such problems.
Attends meetings, conferences, workshops, and training sessions and reviews publications and audio-visual materials to become and remain current on principles, practices, and new developments in assigned work areas.
Responds to citizens’ questions and comments in a courteous and timely manner.
Communicates and coordinates regularly with appropriate others to maximize the effectiveness and efficiency of interdepartmental operations and activities.
Performs other directly related duties consistent with the role and function of the classification.
