Job Summary

Provides professional and technical support to the products and services of the County’s Public Information Division. Work involves assignments in multiple media fields such as photography, print, public relations, media relations, marketing, and television production.

Essential Functions

  • Serves as an advisor/consultant to County managers, Department Heads and employees regarding assigned Public information programs and services.
  • Acts as media spokesperson for the Department writes various press releases and news articles. 
  • Updates and maintains web pages. 
  • Oversees the scheduling of all Department public meetings and events. 
  • Coordinates any special events such as ribbon cutting and dedication ceremonies.
  • Develops and produces a public information program – using such technical skills has video filming, power point presentations for various civic groups, etc.     
  • Assists in establishing measurable criteria for monitoring customer satisfaction and/or concerns.  
  • Prepares newsletters; takes photographs as needed and provides other graphics. 
  • Design brochures, fliers and provide design work, layout services, and writes copy.
  • Actively pursues public relations campaigns and promotional work related to high visibility capital projects; coordinates special projects such as space planning.   
  • Prepares reports or memorandums to make recommendations related to Department projects, facilities or related issues.
  • Serves as a secondary role to project managers when additional functions are required in order to complete a construction project, such as compose letters for neighborhood mailings/meetings.
  • Participates on project delivery team involving capital projects, operations and maintenance projects.  
  • Recommends and participates in the development and implementation of Department/Division goals, objectives, policies and procedures.   
  • Assists managers with strategic and long-range planning for divisional operations; participates in planning efforts at local and regional level; keeps Division Directors apprised of developments at the state and federal level that impact the Division; monitors pending legislation for impact on operations; oversees compliance with new legislation. 
  • Works with County Public Information Division to synchronize with County strategic objectives and County Public Information Office plan.
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS
Performs other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Two (2) years of related experience.
  • Candidates without a degree should possess four (4) additional years of related experience.
  • Fingerprinting required.

    LICENSES/CERTIFICATES

    Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License with any applicable endorsement(s) to drive a County vehicle as provided in CMA 5805.

•Salary offers above the minimum of the pay grade may be considered based on qualifications. 
•Essential Employees may be required to work during an undeclared emergency and/or declared emergency.  On an incident-by-incident basis, the County’s Administrative Office will make the determination as to who will be required to work.
