General Nature of Work
This position serves as the primary liaison between the Kennesaw Parks and Recreation and community stakeholders, fostering civic engagement, managing volunteers, securing sponsorships, developing strategic partnerships, and identifying external funding opportunities to support department programs, events, and initiatives.
Job Responsibilities

- Develop, manage, and grow partnerships with local businesses, nonprofits, civic organizations, schools, and residents.
- Create and implement sponsorship programs to support department events, programs, and initiatives.
- Draft, solicit, and negotiate sponsorship agreements, ensuring mutual value and compliance with City policies.
- Research and pursue opportunities for external funding, including public and private sector support, to enhance community programs and services.
- Coordinate funding applications and reporting requirements in collaboration with department leadership.
- Oversee volunteer recruitment, onboarding, training, and recognition programs for department-led initiatives and events.
- Plan and support civic engagement campaigns to increase public participation in department programs, services, and decision-making processes.
- Collaborate across departments to identify volunteer opportunities, community needs, and potential partnership or funding resources.
- Maintain a database of sponsors, partners, volunteers, and funding sources, tracking engagement, contributions, and participation.
- Represent the department at community events, public meetings, and partner gatherings to strengthen relationships and promote department initiatives.
- Prepare reports and presentations on sponsorship revenue, volunteer impact, funding secured, and partnership activities as needed.
- Stay informed on best practices in civic engagement, sponsorship development, volunteer management, and resource development.
- Support Assistant Director with the implementation of department events and programs.
- Promote programs, classes, camps and events at civic meetings. Maintain active participation in the Civic Organizations.

Requirements

- Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Experience in partnership development, sponsorship sales, volunteer coordination, and resource development.
- Ability to identify and secure external funding opportunities that align with department priorities.
- Familiarity with local government operations, public service values, and civic engagement strategies.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed for community events and meetings.
- Technology skills in Microsoft Office and database management; ability to learn new applications and identify innovative ways for technology to support organizational objectives.
- Ability to multitask, problem-solve, prioritize, delegate, and to create systems and processes.
- Knowledge of data analysis and insight generation, translation of complex issues into actionable efforts.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and juggle multiple priorities, and able to react and adjust quickly to changing conditions.
- Ability to communicate effectively and articulately in writing and orally.
- Ability to focus in all tasks and activities, even while at times under pressure.
- Ability to drive performance and professional motivation.
- Knowledge of the roles and contributions of all sectors of the community and can mobilize resources (financial and human) through meaningful engagement.
Mininum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Recreation, Event Management, Public Relations, or related field required.
- Minimum two years' experience in volunteer management, corporate community relations, project management, community organizing or other related areas required; three years' experience preferred.
- Must pass an MVR check.
- Some evening and weekend hours required.

Physical Requirements This position classifies the physical exertion requirements as sedentary work involving lifting no more than 10 pounds at a time and occasionally lifting or carrying articles like docket files, ledgers, and small tools. Although a sedentary job is defined as one which involves sitting, a certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required occasionally, and other sedentary criteria are met.
Environmental Factors Essential functions are regularly performed outdoors in all weather conditions.
