Job Description
To perform a variety of routine and complex clerical, secretarial, and administrative work in keeping official records, providing administrative support to the Transfer Station, and assisting in the administration of the standard operating policies and procedures of the Division.
Essential Duties
Performs routine clerical and administrative work in answering phones, receiving the public, providing customer assistance, data processing, and bookkeeping.
Answers all in-coming calls, routes caller, and provides information as required.
Receives the public and answer questions; respond to inquiries from employees, citizens and others and refer to appropriate persons.
Operates listed office machines, as required.
Receives and distributes incoming mail; process outgoing mail.
Composes, types, and edits a variety of correspondence, reports, memoranda, and other material requiring judgment as to content, accuracy and completeness.
Maintains suspense files for personnel evaluations, schedules interviews, submits changes in personnel status; maintains personnel records for the Transfer Station personnel.
Prepares billing reports for commercial accounts and inputs billing data.
Compiles data for various reports; prepares graphs and charts.
Prepares requisitions for payment; receives and verifies invoices for payment; maintains records and files on each account of the Transfer Station's budget; monitors budget expenditures and advises Superintendent on fund transfers.
Processes billing for various charge accounts
Prepares and maintains filing systems; maintain records and historical files
Maintains appointment calendar for Transfer Station Superintendent and Transfer Station Supervisor.
Adheres to assigned work schedule as outlined in the Department and City attendance policies and procedures; ensures all behaviors comply with the City's Personnel Rules and Regulations; possesses and maintains a valid driver's license, if required, and complies with City of Killeen driving policy accordingly.
Perform others duties as assigned.
Required Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Graduation from high school or equivalent; and
- Two (2) years of related experience; or
- Any equivalent combination of related education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Working knowledge of computers, Microsoft and electronic data processing;
- Working knowledge of modern office practices and procedures;
- Knowledge of accounting principles and practices;
- Skill in operation of listed tools and equipment.
- Ability to effectively meet and deal with the public.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Ability to handle stressful situations.
- Ability to compose correspondence.
- Must be able to type 30 wpm net.
- Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance.

Special Requirements
Employee must have a valid Texas driver's license by date of hire.
