The purpose of the class is to assist with set-up and breakdown of sports events located at city venues, primarily the Hampton Roads Convention Center.

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or currently enrolled in aligned program in Marketing, Sport Management, Business, Public Relations, Parks & Recreation Management or related field from an accredited college or university is preferred.
  • One year of experience in sales or customer service is preferred.
  • Experience in hospitality industry and/or sports field is preferred.
  • Forklift operator certified within 90 days of employment.
  • A combination of education and experience may be considered for this position. 
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and must have and maintain a satisfactory driver’s record based on the City of Hampton’s criteria.
  • Must successfully pass a background check prior to any offer of employment or promotion.
Additional Requirements
  • The incumbent may be considered “essential personnel” during City emergency situations or at the direction of the City Manager which may include long hours and unusual schedules.
