Tri-City has a position for you!

We are now actively recruiting for one (1) part-time Behavioral Health Advocate I position within our Wellness Center, Tri-City's community hub for activities that promote recovery, resiliency and wellness for people confronting mental health challenges. 

The Behavioral Health Advocate I position provides advocacy, guidance, feedback, outreach and support to help families to access and work more effectively with the systems involved.   These positions report to a Program Supervisor.

This position will perform the following essential duties, including, but not limited to:

  • Provides peer to peer support services in the office and/or in the field including, but not limited to outreach, support, encouragement, guidance, advocacy, and referrals to external resources and services for clients and their families; builds rapport with clients and their families through sharing stories of lived experience and recovery.
  • Encourages and supports clients to fully engage in services; provides outreach and assists clients in addressing and overcoming barriers to treatment.
  • Prepares and facilitates a variety of wellness groups and group activities; monitors groups to ensure compliance with group rules and encourages client participation.
  • Assists clients and families to understand behavioral health problems and steps to recovery.
  • Serves as a role model to build and sustain connections and relationships with clients and the
    community.
  • Accompanies clients to meetings and appointments to support their self-advocacy and facilitate better communication with service providers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Ideal Candidate

Education:

  • Behavioral Health Advocate I: Equivalent to completion of the twelfth (12th) grade.

Experience:

  • Behavioral Health Advocate I: Direct lived experience either personally or as a caregiver of someone who has recovered from behavioral health illness and/or substance use disorder.

Preferred candidates will be bilingual in Spanish or Vietnamese, have experience working as peer support and in self-help groups, & have experience as a Transitional Age Youth with lived experience.

PART-TIME EMPLOYEE BENEFITS:

Sick Leave:  Part-time employees are granted 40 hours of sick leave upon the 90th day of employment.

Merit Salary Increases: Annually based on performance, budget availability, and supervisor approval.
