The City of Brooklet, GA., current population, 2,000+, is experiencing rapid community growth with a projected population of 3,500+ by the end of 2028. During the 2024 term of the Georgia Legislature, a local act was approved and signed by the Governor to change to a council-manager form of government. The successful candidate will be the first permanent City Manager. Brooklet is located eight miles south of Statesboro, GA and Georgia Southern University and forty eight miles north of Savannah, GA.
Brooklet is seeking a highly qualified, professional, innovative and visionary city manager to successfully manage the City's rapid growth, while at the same time, protecting its home town character through growth management policies.
The successful candidate must have a proven record for successfully leading city departments, department heads and personnel with proven proactive leadership and management techniques, developing annual budgets, monitoring city revenues and expenditures, and keeping the elected body and the public informed of the city's financial position.
The City will require candidates to have graduated from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Public Administration, Political Science, Business Management, or a closely related field. A Masters Degree in Public Administration is preferred, and a minimum of 5 years of experience as an assistant city manager/administrator or preferably a city manager/administrator. Added consideration will be given to candidates who are full members of ICMA or ICMA Credentialed Managers.
