The Evans Police Department oversees records management, community service and outreach. It manages specialized policing units and coordinates with local boards and commissions to ensure transparent governance. Reporting to the City Manager, the new Police Chief will provide executive leadership and manage daily department operations, oversee budgeting, personnel, and resources, develop and implement crime prevention and public safety programs, serve as an organizational representative with regional agencies and the public, and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
Required Qualifications Include
Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, law enforcement, criminology, public administration, or related field
Minimum of ten (10) years of law enforcement experience, with at least five (5) years at the rank of lieutenant or higher
Valid Colorado driver’s license or ability to obtain within six months of hire
Possess a Colorado Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T) certification or obtain within 12 months of employment.
Preferred Qualifications Include
Bilingual in English and Spanish
Experience in the public/municipal sector
Master’s degree in a related field
Completion of FBI National Academy, Northwestern School of Police Staff & Command, or equivalent high-level police leadership training
The salary for this position is $143,614 - $201,060 DOE/DOQ.
