Description

This is a seasonal position responsible for assisting the site director by implementing participant Inclusion Plans and facilitating a positive inclusive summer camp program.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • The primary function of this position is to support the Camp Counselors in their group activities by supporting camp participants with physical, developmental, and emotional disabilities, leading small groups of children in various activities, entertainment, and educational programs that include: sports, games, arts & crafts, swimming, canoeing, archery, fishing, field trips, and special events.
  • Implement individual Inclusion plans, assist with active participation in activities, transition between programs, provide positive behavior support, conduct observations and documentation, communicate with staff and participant family members and caregivers, and serve as a positive role model.
  • Track participant progress, provide weekly reports to the ADA Coordinator, attend trainings and meetings, and maintain confidentiality.

Education, Experience, Licensing

  • Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or GED and one year of experience working with large groups of youth, children of all ages preschool through teens.
  • Previous experience working in a camp setting, teaching children with special needs, or one year experience working with youth with disabilities is required.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record is required.
  • Ability to pass a Level II Background Screening (fingerprints) is required.

Supplemental Information

MANDATORY CAMP IN-SERVICE TRAINING will be held:June 9th - June 13th, 2025
CAMP DATES:June 16th - August 1st, 2025

  • Note that this position does not include benefits.
  • Perform extensive physical activity and work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Bend, stoop, and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Understand that camp staffing levels are dependent on minimum enrollment and camper participation. If enrollment is too low, staff may be subject to layoff or relocation.
  • Work days and hours will vary.
  • Commit to working the entire summer camp season, including training week.

EMERGENCY RESPONSE/RECOVERY ACTIVITIES:
