Expected Starting Annual Range: $51,912.00 - $67,485.60

Develops, implements, and manages a variety of projects to enhance external communications, social media, public relations, and media/advertising buying. Actively seeks marketing opportunities to enhance the Bradenton Area Convention and Visitors Bureau print and digital advertising program, marketing, advertising and print and digital strategy targets national markets and international markets. Plans and coordinates outreach events such as signature events, public relations, and tour promotion and familiarization tours, develops and builds partnerships with international tour operators, government organizations, and major media organizations.

Working Conditions

Typical indoor office environment. Periodic outdoor field work required, possibly in adverse weather conditions. Sitting for long periods of time, working on computer. Lifting equipment or supplies up to 25 pounds alone and up to 50 pounds with assistance. Position requires visual acuity and depth perception, as well as ability to hear and identify sounds. Overnight travel periodically required. Occasionally required to work other than normal business hours.

Job Description

Essential Functions

Prepares media and production budgets as assigned and submits estimates and plans for advertising to advance tourism to Manatee County. Promotes programs and facilities in accordance with the Department’s overall marketing and advertising strategy to promote tourism. Oversees the development of marketing materials and social media activities related to the Department’s marketing plan.

Works with a variety of media representatives and builds successful partnerships with international tour operators, travel writers, and media organizations.

Fosters collaborative relationships with media outlets to promote activities, events, announcement, and similar communications projects and initiatives. Responds to media inquiries and requests for comment and interviews.

Works with the Marketing and Communications Manager to identify avenues to pursue advertising and social media initiatives that comply with the department communications strategy. Coordinates all media/advertising creative with third party agencies for assigned projects. Works directly with industry partners, hotels, and attractions on ways to collaborate with the BACVB on marketing initiatives, social media, websites, and cooperatives. Negotiates and prepares media/advertising insertion orders in the international target markets.

Assists with social media programs and tactics with third party vendors and hospitality industry.

Prepares media/advertising insertion orders and reviews with Marketing and Communications Manager for final approval. Confers on potential contracts, selection of media and methods, and products to be marketed and advertised.

Plans and coordinates signature events and outreach. Creates marketing materials and event schedules and oversees third party vendors producing marketing media and materials.

Confers with Marketing Director to discuss topics such as contracts, selection of advertising media, or product to be advertised.

Confers with tourism industry partners to provide marketing or technical advice regarding BACVB's web site, mobile site, or mobile application.

Works directly with industry partners, hotels, and attractions on how they can work with the CVB on marketing initiatives, social media, website, and cooperatives. Continually selling our programs and increasing awareness of all programs offered.

Develops purchase orders for marketing projects and reviews for final approval with marketing manager.

Plans and coordinates familiarization tours for travel writers.

May develop press releases or review press releases from third party public relations firm.

Monthly invoicing reconciliation to media plan. Review to ensure no overages, failure to perform and value added was delivered.

Performs other related duties (including weather or other extreme conditions) as requested.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in hospitality, marketing, public relations or related field.

Two (2) or more years of experience in public relations, marketing, sales, communications, or social media.

A comparable combination of education, training, and work experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.
