Job Summary:
The Director of Business and Community Development is responsible for the overall development, supervision, and evaluation of the Canyon Economic Development Corporation (CEDC). The position will be responsible for reporting to the CEDC board.
Supervisory Role: This position will supervise CEDC staff
Qualifications:
· Must be at least 21 years of age
· Must be able to work in the United States of America
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
· Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of CEDC activities
· Ensure proper maintenance of CEDC records
· Ensure appropriate retention of all CEDC documents and records
· Ensuring CEDC compliance with Texas Open Meetings Act
· Provide support to members of the CEDC board
· Plan and implement the educational activities for the CEDC Board
· Plan, develop, and implement the CEDC Annual Budget
· Provide regular reports to the City of Canyon Commission
· Initiation of contact with target prospects and coordination of site visits
· Provide information about CEDC activities via presentations, calls, and meetings

Education/Training/Experience:
A Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, or another related field is highly recommended. At least three years of experience in economic development are also recommended. Training provided by the Texas Department of Economic Development or another equivalent agency is recommended.
Work Environment:
Most of the work is performed in an office setting, completing administrative duties for the CEDC. There are times when the position requires work to be completed outdoors with exposure to inclement weather. Exposure to communicable disease/bloodborne pathogens while executing duties related to this position is considered minimal.
Physical Demands:
Most work is performed at a desk, completing administrative tasks using a personal computer and other office equipment. The position requires frequent sitting, standing, and walking and the use of hands and fingers. It also requires occasional bending, stooping, reaching, and lifting of up to 25 pounds.

Travel Required:
Some travel is required to attend meetings, conferences, and trainings.
