SENIOR MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN - Facility Maintenance

JOB SUMMARY:
 
Under direction, perform various building maintenance repairs. Assist Facilities Specialists with major repairs of all types on all City buildings. Perform other related work as required. 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
 
Perform general building maintenance repairs, including but not limited to, minor carpentry, door and/or door lock repair or replacement, closures, minor electrical repair, switches, outlets, lights, and ballast replacement. Assemble and move furniture. Perform plumbing repairs and/or replacement of fixtures. Perform dry wall repairs, such as taping and bedding, texturing, painting, and cleaning. Perform minor repairs on HVAC systems and assist Facilities specialist with major repairs of all types on all buildings. Communicate courteously and effectively with other employees, officials, and the public. Operate computerized building automation equipment. Use personal computer to work with work management systems. Lift and/or carry up to 100 pounds; push, pull, and/or drag up to 150 pounds. Frequently climb, stoop, kneel, squat, stand, walk and/or twist while performing job functions. Read, understand, and apply written instructions accurately. Work indoors and outdoors, in extreme heat or cold temperature conditions, with associated temperature swings. May be exposed to hazards such as chemical, dust, fumes and toxic waste, using appropriate safety precautions and equipment. Some exposure to mechanical, electrical, and explosive hazards, utilizing proper safety equipment and precautions. See and hear clearly to work safely under varying conditions. Keep assigned equipment in good working order. Assist with custodial duties as needed.

REQUIRED EDUCATION; DEGREES. CERTIFICATES. AND/OR LICENSES:

High School Diploma or GED required. Texas Drivers License, Class C, required. Must have, or obtain within six months of appointment to position, a refrigerant transition and recovery certification for type 1 and type 2 equipment.  

EXPERIENCE. TRAINING. KNOWLEDGE. AND SKILLS:

Minimum of 2 years experience required in repair and operation of all types of building equipment and systems, including a minimum of 9 months experience during the past 18 months. Must be familiar with all types of tools and methods related to the repair trade. Must be able to physically perform the Essential Functions of the job. Must have good interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with the public and with other City employees. Must be able to use personal computer.
