Job Summary: Responsible for the oversight and day-to-day supervision for operation and maintenance of a park unit to ensure quality facilities and amenities and a safe environment; preserve and enhance department assets; ensure quality service and product delivery.
Job Responsibilities
- Personnel Management - Participate in and recommend hiring of park operations staff and provide daily supervision including job assignments, performance appraisals, workforce development, and establishing priorities to ensure the success of the park operations unit & the Department's strategies.
- Park and facility maintenance - Oversees day-to-day care and maintenance of parks, facilities and parkways; maintains turf and grounds by including, but not limited to, mowing, snow plowing, edging, mulching, trimming, and shoveling; maintains facilities including cleaning, minor repair, and rental prep.
- Administration - Process purchase requests; inventory supplies; process work orders, review contracts and agreements; assist with project management and priorities; maintain logs; prepare specialized plans, reports and audits, ensure relevant safety codes and regulations are followed.
- Budget management - Prepare and monitor annual unit budget to ensure responsible fiscal management.
- Equipment maintenance - Inspect and maintain all equipment and tools related to the performance of job duties.
- Special assignments and projects - Participate on special project teams; community outreach efforts; and other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Current resident of Wisconsin.
- Valid WI Driver's License
- Ability to lift/carry/push/pull 50 lbs
- Associate's Degree in Park & Rec, Turf Science, Land Mgmt.
- At least Three (3) years of experience in Park maintenance or related field.
- At least One (1) year of supervisory experience in Park Maintenance or related field.
- In lieu of an associate's degree, candidates with a high school diploma or GED and at least 5 years of Park Maintenance work experience will also qualify.
Additional Comments
- Please note successful completion of a supervisory management course within 12 months of employment will be required in this case after hire.
License and Certification
- Commercial 3.0 Pesticide Applicator in 6 months of employment
- Class "B" CDL with Air Brakes obtained within six months of employment, Class "A" preferred
- CPR/First Aid & AED obtained within 6 months
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree preferred (Park & Recreation, Horticulture, Turf Management)
Preferred Experience
- Small equipment maintenance experience preferred
- Snow plowing experience preferred
Pay Range - $65,374.4 - $78,000 per annum
