TRAFFIC TECHNICIAN




TRAFFIC TECHNICIAN

The purpose of this position is to ensure the safe and efficient flow of City traffic. This is accomplished by maintaining City signs and traffic signals. Other duties include maintaining school zone flashers, monitoring and installation of traffic signal coordination, and providing customer service and interaction with other City employees and citizens. This position does not provide direct supervision to other employees.

The city offers vacation and sick leave, as well as ten paid holidays. Full time employees earn three weeks of vacation during their first year of employment and 10 hours of sick leave a month.
 
What We're Looking For
Minimum Requirements
·        High School Diploma or GED.
·        Two years of experience maintaining and repairing electrical equipment.
·        Two years of experience in computer programming or software design.
·        Must obtain a Texas Class A Commercial Driver’s License.
The ideal candidate might have experience in one or more of the following categories.
·        Traffic signal software or programming.
·        Working knowledge of radio communication systems and installation.
·        Troubleshooting electrical equipment and repair.
·        Any level of IMSA Certification or the ability to obtain within two years of hire date.
·        Knowledge of traffic signal coordination, timing, and application.
·        Installation of IP addresses and configuration.
·        Technical problem solving with software or electrical equipment.
·        Enjoys examining facts and information to learn or improve skills.
 
Additional Information
Typical Work Schedule: Monday through Friday 7:30 am to 4:00 pm. Stand-by required.
