Building Inspector I/II/III

The Town of Firestone is currently seeking a Building Inspector I, II, or

III to join our Planning & Development Department.

Under the general direction of the Deputy Chief Building Official, Building

Inspectors perform simple to complex field inspections of residential,

commercial, and industrial construction to ensure compliance with adopted

building codes, regulations, and policies. They will communicate with all

relevant stakeholders regarding approval or denial of all work performed. The

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

The list below is intended to illustrate the responsibilities of all levels of

the Building Inspector and is not all-encompassing. The Town may change

these duties at any time.

Inspects residential, commercial, industrial, and other buildings during

and after construction to ensure compliance with approved plans under the

Town's adopted codes and ordinances; performs on-site inspections of

structural, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical work

Enforces building, development, and zoning requirements; issues official

enforcement documents, including but not limited to, correction notices,

stop-work orders, re-inspection notices, and final approvals

Performs detailed examination of structural components for building code

compliance

Prepares reports and written correspondence, research codes and their

interpretation

Follows assigned routes for daily inspections to ensure the most efficient use

of time

Attends meetings of professional organizations, construction conferences,

staff meetings, and other meetings as assigned; maintains a thorough

knowledge of the latest developments in the field
