The Utility Superintendent manages the administrative and technical work in the Stormwater and Streets Division. Plans and supervises the operation and maintenance of Stormwater drainage lines, Catch Basins , and Street sweeping and Canal cleaning activities; oversees the Stormwater and Streets Division operation of road repair, sidewalk installation and repair and maintenance activities; does related work as required.
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS:
Utility Superintendant position work involves supervising the Stormwater and Streets Division including preparation of the division budget. An employee in this classification is responsible for the repair and maintenance of the Stormwater drainage system and Streets activites. The individual in this class reviews the plans of drainage projects. The work is performed in accordance with general policies established by the department director or designee, with standard trade practices, and State law concerning water quality. General supervision is exercised over all activities of the mechanical and maintenance end of a Stormwater operation. Supervision is exercised over supervisors, subordinates, technical, skilled and unskilled workers. Work is reviewed through periodic inspections of finished jobs and review of reports.
