Property and Equipment Manager

The purpose of this position is to provide purchasing support to the public safety departments and to supervise personnel in the Property and Logistics Section of the Technical Services Division to include property and evidence, police and fire uniform and related equipment, and police fleet equipment, and logistics distribution for packages delivered to the municipal complex. This is accomplished by analyzing and managing public safety purchases; contacting, meeting, and negotiating with vendors and outside businesses regarding research, field testing, and acquisition; ensuring purchases are in compliance with City regulations, policies and procedures. This position is responsible for inventory control, order verification, and processing orders and returns for all public safety employees; the issue and delivery of received items/equipment; conducting research for future needs and purchases; provide customer service support to departments and vendors, address vendor issues that arise, assist with bid specifications and tracking contracts; and preparing and tracking the annual budget for both public safety department equipment and uniform purchases. Other duties may include producing reports of purchases, assist in the formal bid proposal specification process, provide support in developing proposals and sealed bid specifications, and communicate with the budget department for approval of purchases. This position also performs other duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For
·        Associate’s degree required, Bachelor’s degree preferred.
·        Three years of experience with purchasing, inventory, logistics or related field. Police and fire department experience is preferred but not required.
·        Three years of inventory/equipment management and 1 year of supervisory experience, along with knowledge of advanced procurement procedures and practices are preferred.
·        Valid TX Driver’s License.
·        Basic Police Supervision school, successfully, completed within one year of appointment.
