Nature of Work
Under the direction of the Sports Supervisor, this position will act as the primary support for all sports operations (youth and adult). Works with community partners and volunteers to maintain program integrity and grow youth sports in Whitehall. Works closely with parks maintenance team to ensure high standards at sports facilities.Utilizes software for registration, rostering, and communications.
Spearheads set-up and tear down for home games. Conducts outreach and program/event support for department and City-wide events as needed.
Essential Functions
Essential Job Functions are required but not limited to
1Works with Sports Supervisor and maintenance to ensure all fields and facilities are prepared and set up properly for activities.

Proficiently utilizes software to coordinate sport leagues including registration, communication, coordinating volunteer coaches, officials and facilities.
3Serves as liaison to public concerning youth sport leagues including soliciting feedback on existing programming and suggested improvements.

Answers questions and complaints using effective customer service skills.

Oversee the effective execution of practices and games.

Works effectively with Sports Coordinators to ensure continuity of services.7Reviews and evaluates youth sport leagues and recommends changes and improvements to increase effectiveness.
8Works in conjunction with staff to create youth sport league philosophies.
9Tracks youth sport league participation trends, costs, and satisfaction.
10Responsible for equipment and supplies utilized in youth sport leagues.
11Works non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays, as necessary to oversee and administrate youth sport leagues for the public.
12Market and promote youth sports leagues through the website, social media forums, program guide and community meetings.
13Represent the City and department in outreach activities to develop and strengthen community partnerships.
14Provides event support as needed.
15Other duties as assigned.

- Regular, predictable and punctual attendance is required.

Minimum Qualifications Required
- HS Diploma or Equivalency
- Thorough knowledge of sports, rules, equipment, coaching, and best practices
- Excellent customer service skills in working with the public including ability to de-escalate tense situations
- Self-starter; ability to work independently
- Manual labor required. Move and set-up sports equipment; lift and carry objects weighing up to 50lbs.
- The employee is subjected to indoor and outdoor environment conditions, extreme heat, direct/extreme sun, high humidity, noise, vibration, hazards, and atmospheric conditions.
Other
Preferred:
- College degree in an area related to recreation, education or sports.
- Experience coordinating recreational programming.
