About the Job
Under moderate supervision, responsible for repair, prime, paint, striping, markings, and maintenance of a variety of airport surfaces such as runways, taxiways, roadways, ramps, parking lots, as well as interior and exterior of buildings, equipment, and vehicles.
Responsibilities
1. Prepares a variety of surfaces using hand-held scrapers, chemicals, water blasting, and grinding to remove paint from walls, structures, equipment, and pavement while working in both indoor and outdoor environments.
2. Operates striping vehicle, line drivers, airless spray systems, spray guns, glass bead applicators, rollers, and brushes to apply paint to all designated areas, including airfield, pavements, building exteriors and interiors, equipment, and vehicles.
3. Operates painting equipment to apply and remove paint and glass beads from street markings, traffic control lines, and airfield markings in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) specifications. Uses a relatively high degree of concentration and attention to operate striping vehicle and high-pressure water blasting vehicle to paint and remove paint from pavement, runways and taxiways markings accurately.
4. Patches plaster and repairs and finishes dry wall. Stains and finishes woodwork.
5. Drives vehicles with paint equipment and supplies to designated work areas. Loads and unloads vehicle with necessary painting equipment and supplies.
6. Performs inspections and preventative maintenance to ensure compliance with safety standards and the efficient operation of all equipment. Maintains records on all work performed. Follows Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Authority guidelines at all times while using equipment, paints, varnishes, and chemicals.
Requirements
KNOWLEDGE ‑ High school diploma/GED. Must have a valid driver license and obtain and maintain a Class III Airport Operation Area (AOA) driver license within six (6) months in position.
Three (3) years of professional painting experience. Knowledge of applying paint, removing paint, cleaning painted surfaces, patching plaster and dry wall, and applying varnish consistently. Knowledge of interpreting specifications, schematics, drawings, and sketches. Experience operating striping machines preferred. Good written and verbal communication skills.
