King County Department of Local Services is searching for an organized and resourceful Human Resource Associate to join our team of Human Resource professionals. This position provides high-level administrative support for the day-to-day human resources delivery This role will work closely with recruiters providing administrative support and new employees onboarding and welcoming them to King County, all while maintaining human resource related databases and personnel files. Job Duties

Applying equity and social justice principles is a daily responsibility and a foundational expectation for all King County employees. In this role, you will apply equity and social justice principles that exemplify shared values, behaviors, and practices to all aspects of the work. 

  • Serve as recruitment team coordinator. Participate in the recruitment and selection process by scheduling interviews, communicating with internal and external applicants over phone, email and in person, preparing interview materials, proctoring exams, and administering applicant tracking, testing, and references, pre-employment physicals and DOT mandated drug and alcohol requisites.
  • Coordinate onboarding activities. Correspond with candidates, complete hiring documents, deliver information to candidates, hiring managers, and other units/departments, and perform weekly first day onboarding activities in person.
  • Manage records by ensuring timely creation, maintenance, and archiving of documents/files to support historical accuracy; compiling information, documents, and records for public disclosure requests; and following records retention and destruction procedures in accordance with legal requirements.
  • Coordinate and track employee training, probationary reviews, alternative work schedules, telecommuting agreements, and  annual performance appraisals.
  • Utilize software applications (e.g. PeopleSoft, NeoGov, Laserfiche, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) to create and maintain human resources tracking systems, generate reports, create presentations, and prepare written materials.
  • Perform general office support by preparing correspondence and reports, scheduling meetings and appointments, researching and compiling information, updating templates and websites, and making recommendations for process improvements and streamlining procedures.

Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills

  • Have increasingly responsible administrative support responsibilities in the area of human resources OR any equivalent knowledge, skills, and experience that provide the ability to perform the core competencies of the position.
  • Have experience with Human Capital Management (HCM) like PeopleSoft or similar systems and applicant tracking system like NEOGOV or similar systems.
  • Have experience with electronic filing systems, like Laserfiche or similar system
  • Have experience to utilize SharePoint and other tools to automate processes and track work items. 
  • Have Strong communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Are proficient in using office productivity suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams) in daily work.
  • Have strong customer service, organizational, analytical, time management, communication, and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
  • Have experience in working on multiple tasks requiring a high degree of accuracy in a high pressure/short deadline/precise schedule environment.
  • Have the ability to maintain high degree of confidentiality with sensitive and personal information.
  • Have the ability to be self-directed and effectively plan, organize, prioritize work on a daily basis.
  • Have the ability to work independently and effectively be part of a team that contributes to a work environment that embraces and encourages diversity in its workforce and where differences are valued.
  • Have the ability to demonstrate behaviors that include fairness, respect, and inclusiveness.

INTERVIEW SCHEDULE:

  • Week of June 16th – phone interviews
  • Week of June 23rd – virtual interviews

WORK SCHEDULE: The work week is normally Monday through Friday, 8.00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., but may at times require work outside of normal business hours. This position is Non-Exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standard Act and is eligible for overtime pay, with prior supervisor approval.

TELEWORKING REQUIREMENT: This is a hybrid position and the primary in person workspace will be at King Street Center in downtown Seattle on Mondays. Additional in person work days will be at the Renton Maintenance Facility as needed. The work associated with this position will be performed by teleworking, field work, onsite work and meetings as needed. Employees will have access to shared workspaces at various King County facilities. Employees must reside in Washington state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.

Employees will be provided with a County issued laptop and must maintain a workspace with an internet connection (access may be supplemented in some situations) where they can reliably perform work and remain available and responsive during scheduled work hours. King County has a robust collection of tools and resources to support working remotely.
