Board Relations
· Develop policies, programs and priorities for the consideration and approval of the board of directors
· Apprise the board of directors on the status of issues that may affect MCIT to ensure the board is kept current and fully informed relative to its governance and fiduciary obligations
· Plan and coordinate meetings and functions of the board of directors, which includes development of meeting agendas, development and coordination of supporting material for the meetings, and preparation of meeting minutes
Asset Management
· Provide guidance on the use of MCIT’s financial assets based on information from multiple resources
· Prepare MCIT annual budget for the board’s approval
· Manage the operations of MCIT within the approved budget
· Supervise finance activities and functions
· Oversee investment activities within approved guidelines
Internal Operations Management
· Coordinate and direct diverse operations and functions across department lines within the parameters of the MCIT budget, policies, procedures and governing documents; and all applicable laws, rules and regulations
· Plan, organize and develop methods and strategies to accomplish tasks in the following areas:
o Underwriting
o MCIT Coverage Document maintenance
o Risk management and loss control
o Claims administration
o Finance and accounting
o Legal services
o Information, education and membership services
o Technology
o Facility management
o Office support and administration
Coverage & Claims Management
· Ensure review and recommend revisions to the MCIT Coverage Document on an ongoing basis
· Facilitate discussions regarding new or expanded services and programs to meet changing member needs
· Report to the board all recommendations on rates, coverage, contracts, procedures, reinsurance, vendors, and all other aspects of MCIT programs and activities
· Ensure reserving integrity of property, liability and workers’ compensation claims
· Ensure claims management practices reflect public sector property, liability and workers’ compensation exposures and defenses
Communications, Information & Education
· Oversee the development and implementation of advanced information education and training programs for MCIT
· Ensure consistent, accurate and timely communications with members and others on aspects of MCIT programs and activities and decisions
· Develop and present training and informational presentations
· Prepare articles and resources as needed for MCIT outreach and promotional efforts
· Provide leadership in the marketing of MCIT programs
External Relationship Management
· Provide leadership in the promotion of MCIT programs, services and operations to members, prospective members, reinsurers, the Legislature, service providers and other associations and organizations
· Maintain visibility and accessibility with members, service providers, other associations and organizations
· Respond to issues and concerns that reach the executive director level
Personnel Management
· Lead, mentor, and support staff to implement board objectives effectively
· Oversee recruitment, training, compensation and performance management in compliance with MCIT policies and public sector standards
· Ensure a strong organizational culture through clear policies, professional development and regular evaluations
