Under the direction of the Chief of Police, this position serves as the public information officer announcing major news or providing essential information in a crisis, answering on-the-spot questions, and providing updates as developments change in pertinent incidents. Coordinate press releases involving promotion of the police department’s various initiatives, the distribution of information to the public and to news agencies. Build, execute and monitor the police department’s social media content for all applicable outlets across the web, through mobile and email platforms. Provide relevant content by creating innovative posts/tweets for feeds, video blogs, and other social media channels ensuring that messages are consistent, information is accurate and policies are followed throughout all pieces. This position also serves as internal staff photographer and editor (pictorial and video). This position requires strong written, oral communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to multi-task, and a willingness to work with flexibility and adaptability. This position does not provide direction to other employees.

What We're Looking For
·        Bachelors degree in Communications, Marketing, Criminal Justice or other directly related field.
·        Two years of experience as a social media coordinator/public information officer or related field.
· Valid TX Class C Driver’s License.
