GENERAL SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of a Laborer II and/or the Public Works Supervisor. Performs manual labor involving semi-skilled work in various maintenance and construction tasks. Requires the use of tools, equipment and the operation of automotive equipment occasionally. Performs other duties as required.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operates power mowers, edgers, clippers, other landscaping equipment, and grounds maintenance.
- Performs routine street maintenance, including, but not limited to, asphalt repairs, installation or removal of speed bumps and assists in grading or smoothing dirt roads.
- May operate equipment such as pick-up trucks. Performs other semi-skilled work as required.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of safe operation of such equipment as shovel, axe, weed-eater, sling-blade, hoe, rake, pressure hose, pickaxe, lawn mower, tractor and other equipment related to manual work in a street or parks department. Knowledge of commonly accepted occupational safety procedures. Ability to safely operate motor vehicles. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with co-workers and supervisors. Ability to work within the bounds of established guidelines and regulations.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATES:
Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Drivers License.
