PAY AND BENEFITS
Annual Pay Range: $51,836.33 - $65,474.70
Hourly Pay Range: $24.921312 - $31.478219
Salary offers will be made within the posted pay range and will be based on a candidate's experience (paid or unpaid) that is directly relevant to the position.

JOB DETAILS AND QUALIFICATIONS
The North Clackamas Parks and Recreation District (NCPRD) seeks a dedicated individual to join our team as a Park Maintenance Specialist.
This position plays a critical role in maintaining NCPRD sites. As a Park Maintenance Specialist, your responsibilities will include routine maintenance and repair tasks for NCPRD buildings, recreational facilities, undeveloped grounds, structures, and equipment within NCPRD parks.
In addition to hands-on maintenance work, as the Park Maintenance Specialist, you will serve as a team leader, coordinating the efforts of temporary maintenance employees, seasonal workers, and contractors on various landscaping, maintenance, and repair projects. You will be involved in identifying issues, contacting contractors, performing preventive maintenance and repairs for buildings, structures, and equipment, as well as maintaining records of vehicle and equipment schedules. The position also entails construction, maintenance, and renovation of walkways, trails, sports fields, and recreation areas. Additionally, you may assist with landscaping and the maintenance of planting areas.
The Park Maintenance Specialist interacts with the public, responding to inquiries, complaints, and service requests as needed. Effective communication and collaboration with caretakers, concessionaires, law enforcement officials, volunteers, and contractors is essential.

Required Minimum Qualifications/ Transferable Skills:*
• At least two (2) years of demonstrable experience maintaining landscaped areas, recreation facilities, undeveloped grounds, or buildings with a working knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, painting, masonry, mechanical maintenance, and general preventative maintenance practices (HVAC, hot water boilers, and related building systems)
• Perform semi-skilled maintenance ranging from painting to mechanical repairs
• Experience leading the work of others
• Experience working with maintenance contracts and contractors
• Ability to communicate effectively with the public, staff, and contractors
Preferred Special Qualifications/ Transferable Skills:*
• Oregon Department of Agriculture (ODA) Public Pesticide Applicators License in Ornamental and Turf Category

TYPICAL TASKS
The successful candidate will perform a wide range of duties, including:
Oversees and coordinates preventive maintenance and repair activities, including obtaining quotes and scheduling services for plumbing fixtures, electrical issues, and related systems.
Evaluate facility needs and recommend the procurement of maintenance tools, equipment, and supplies to ensure operational efficiency and safety.
Inspects buildings, structures, and fixtures and identifies maintenance and/or repairs needed. Maintains documentation of facility conditions and develops project timeline and materials required for repairs.
Monitors the work of janitorial and maintenance contractors. Inspects the work of technical and/or licensed repair contractors who perform work at NCPRD facilities.
Purchase janitorial, repair, and maintenance supplies, materials, and parts. Maintain records of repairs and maintenance activities, parts used, supplies needed, and other related items.
Leads daily work, including the improvement of park facilities, restrooms, recreation buildings, and shelters; sweeps and scrubs walls, floors, ceilings, and plumbing fixtures; performs carpentry and painting; identifies plumbing/electrical issues, trash cleanup, and janitorial work.
Schedules, leads, and coordinates the work of temporary assigned personnel in building maintenance activities; trains individuals in the safe operation of tools and equipment.
Maintains landscaped and undeveloped terrain; mows, weeds, rakes, and edges lawns; installs turf; applies fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides; installs, tills soil, and mixes in soil amendments; plants, transplants, mulches, prunes, and fertilizes flowers, shrubs, and trees.
Assists in the maintenance of planting areas. Plans and coordinates the use of equipment and materials on maintenance and repair projects; researches prices and availability of equipment and materials; and purchases daily maintenance supplies.
Constructs, maintains, and renovates walkways and trails; clears brush and debris; hauls and spreads gravel, wood chips, and bark dust; installs and repairs gates, barriers, fences, and signs; sweeps paved walks and parking areas. Provides scheduling and coordination for contracted work.
Maintains and repairs sports fields and recreation areas; moves and arranges equipment and furnishings; repairs backstops, bases, goal posts, bleachers, picnic tables, and recreation equipment.
Cares for a variety of trees, shrubs, ground covers, and other plants.
Responds to questions, complaints, and requests for service from the public; provide information on park rules and regulations; coordinate activities with caretakers, concessionaires, law enforcement officials, volunteers, and contractors.
Prepares and maintains records of vehicle and equipment maintenance and service schedules. Maintains and records applicator records and licenses.
Sets up rooms, moves furnishings and supplies, and sets up tents, tables, chairs, trash containers, and signage for events at various NCPRD facilities and properties.
Clean the roof of debris, including gutter cleaning and maintenance.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Working knowledge of: Building maintenance and repair techniques. Maintenance and repair of building and park maintenance equipment and tools. A clear understanding of occupational hazards and basic safety practices and procedures, including methods for handling hazardous materials, paints, thinners, cleaning solutions, landscaping chemicals, and gasoline. Basic knowledge of painting, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and cement finishing.
Some knowledge of: Techniques of supervision.
Skill to: Safely operate motor vehicles and manual and power tools; read and understand building plans and specifications; plan and oversee the work of assigned maintenance crews; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with County employees, contractors, community service workers, volunteers and the public; enforce park rules and regulations; prepare and maintain accurate records and reports.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Duties require frequent to continuous standing, walking, squatting, kneeling, bending, twisting, balancing, climbing, overhead reaching, grasping, fine motor control, and the ability to carry up to 60 pounds, lift and push/pull 100 pounds. Duties also involve exposure to confined spaces, loud noises, vibration, slippery and/or uneven surfaces, working at heights (roof tops), exhaust fumes and dust, chemicals, and adverse weather conditions, including extreme temperatures and other hazardous conditions.
WORK SCHEDULE
This position works 40 hours during a standard workweek of Monday through Friday. Typical work hours are 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM; however, specific hours of work will be discussed with the candidate selected for this position at the time an offer of employment is extended. This position is designated as on-site/in-person. It is expected that the selected candidate will perform duties at the specified on-site work location.
