Recruitment Description
The City of Ellensburg Police Department has a vacancy for a full-time Code Enforcement Officer. This is a full-time position and may require working weekends throughout the year. This position is not related to building code enforcement.
Code Enforcement Officers help ensure that the Ellensburg Community is clean, welcome, and a safe environment through enforcement of Ellensburg City Codes related to parking, weeds, rubbish, garbage, inoperative vehicles, and all adopted state parking laws.
The person in this position will perform the full range of duties related to enforcement of Ellensburg City Codes and state laws, including but not limited to issuing citations, recordkeeping and correspondence, customer service, and other administrative/support tasks for the Department. There is regular interaction with emotional, angry people and most work is performed independently with little direction.

Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION And EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Two (2) years of experience performing duties that require similar skills such as enforcement of policies, rules, or regulations, administrative tasks, and customer service.
- *Please note:* An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered in lieu of the above requirements as determined by management.
Required Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- Valid Washington State driver's license by date of hire; must be able to maintain an insurable driving
- Able to obtain Washington State certification for Access terminal within six (6) months of hire.
- First Aid/CPR/AED Certification, or ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire.
