Intercity Transit is looking for a Marketing & Communications Representative to join our team to ensure customers have the best information available and our community understands the great work IT does. This goal is achieved through a combination of high-quality communication materials, innovative design, community events and modern engagement tools. The successful candidate will coordinate with staff across the agency and join a highly functioning team with a diverse range of communications and marketing skills.

This project position is funded through December 30, 2026 with the potential to extend or become permanent based on the needs and capacity of the organization.

Examples of Duties

As a Marketing & Communications Outreach Representativeyou will: 

  • Participate in the production of materials for external and internal use such as print advertisements, bus boards, vehicle graphics, posters, direct mail pieces, banners, and corporate signage. 
  • Produce on-vehicle information, on-street schedules and maps, provide detour and other customer communications as needed. Monitor and ensure accurate information and materials on vehicles and on-street.
  • Perform general marketing and communications activities including writing, review, and copyediting, graphic design, photography, and video capture. 
  • Create and update information for digital communication channels.
  • Participate in numerous community events throughout our service area.  
  • Assist in special projects for the agency. 
  • Perform other duties of a similar nature or level.

Typical Qualifications

Are you the one we are looking for? 

  • Associate degree AND three (3) years of professional experience in marketing and communications OR an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the position. 
  • You must be willing to submit to a criminal background investigation, the results of which must meet the agency’s hiring criteria.
  • Knowledge of marketing principles and practices; public relations and communications principles; basic graphic design; basic website and social media concepts; promotional material development methods; applicable federal, state, and local law.
  • Skilled in; writing, editing, and proofreading documents; prioritizing work and managing multiple requests for information; using computers and related software applications; communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, and the general public sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction. 
  • Desire to work as a key part of a fun and highly skilled team of communicators.

Health Care

Employees and Intercity Transit pay a monthly premium contribution depending upon the plan chosen.In addition, Intercity Transit offers:

Washington State Public Employees' Retirement System (PERS)

Employees are covered under PERS I, PERS II and PERS III of the Washington State Retirement System. Employee and Employer contributions are required at start of employment.

Deferred Compensation Plans (401K and 457)

Intercity Transit offers three voluntary deferred compensation plans. Employees who contribute at least 6.2% to a plan receive a 6.2% employer match. Employee contributions are not subject to federal income tax until withdrawn. 

Vacation Leave & Sick Leave

Employees accrue 23.75 to 36 vacation days per year depending on length of service. The maximum accrual limit is 360 hours.

Employees accrue 12 days of sick leave per year depending upon date of eligibility. The maximum accrual limit is 960 hours.
