Under the Direction of the Chief of Emergency Management, performs duties and functions in support of the Department of Emergency Management’s purpose of serving Skagit County, the cities, and towns therein, and residents through effective collaboration in preparing for, protecting against, responding to, recovering from, and mitigating the impacts of all potential hazards and threats. May also report to Emergency Management Supervisor for specialized projects.
Skagit County Emergency Management operates through an interlocal agreement between the county and the eight city and town jurisdictions within the county.
We are currently seeking an Emergency Management Coordinator to manage Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) functions and oversee Hazardous Materials Emergency Planning. This position will also serve as the Logistics Section Chief, participate in the rotating 24/7 duty officer program, and perform other duties within the scope of the job description. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated strong planning and writing skills, with the ability to coordinate effectively across multiple agencies and jurisdictions. A high standard of professionalism, accountability, and integrity is expected in all aspects of this role.
Salary upon hire is step 1 through 3 ($35.02/hr. - $37.52/hr.) for an Emergency Management Coordinator, dependent upon qualifications.
Progressive increases are based upon years of service with Skagit County, up to 8 total steps (top step $44.44/hr.). The Emergency Management Coordinator is Range 16 of the PROTEC - DEM Salary Schedule.
