The Economic Development Agency is currently recruiting for an Economic Development Manager who will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing various programs and projects, marketing and promotional activities, and economic services and events. Responsibilities include planning, organizing, marketing projects, while establishing and maintaining cooperative relationships with a variety of citizens, public and private organizations, and County personnel.

  • Tourism Development: The Economic Development Agency aims to boost the local economy by attracting tourists. This involves promoting local attractions, improving infrastructure, and creating marketing campaigns to draw visitors to the area.

  • Event Planning: Events play a crucial role in drawing visitors to the region. The agency plans to host conferences and other events that showcase the unique culture and attractions of San Bernardino County.

The Economic Development Agency provides a variety of programs and services designed to attract new industry to San Bernardino County, as well as retain existing businesses. The objective is to maximize employment opportunities and increase capital investment throughout the region. Economic Development plays important role in ensuring San Bernardino County is well positioned to support expected resident and business growth. Minimum Requirements

Candidates must meet BOTH the Education and Experience requirements:

EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution* in business or public administration, economics, behavioral science, marketing, or a closely related field.

--AND--

EXPERIENCE:
Three (3) years of full-time equivalent professional experience in economic, workforce, or community development, tourism, or event planning. Experience should include conducting tourism related activities, event planning along with strategic marketing, and collaboration and relationship building with business leaders and community stakeholders; business attraction and retention; entrepreneurship development; overseeing budgets; and researching, collecting and analyzing economic and tourism related data. 

--AND--

One (1) year of full-scope supervision responsibilities (experience may be concurrent).


*Note: Qualifying degrees must be completed at a college or university accredited by any accrediting association recognized by the United States Department of Education. Degrees or coursework completed outside the U.S. must be accompanied with an evaluation report from a reputable credential evaluation service showing equivalency to degrees or coursework completed at a college or university accredited by any accrediting association recognized by the United States Department of Education.

Desired Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in Economic Development, Event Planning, Tourism Marketing and will possess the ability to understand and interpret laws and legislation as they relate to and impact economic and workforce development.

In addition, the ideal candidate will be a self-starter, demonstrating continued improvement and professional growth, while employing excellent written and verbal communication skills, and exhibiting superior personal interaction skills.
