Brief Description Of The Position

The Chief of Police plans, organizes, and directs the activities of the Police Department including law enforcement, investigation, crime prevention, and administrative support services. This executive-level position reports directly to the City Manager. The City is seeking an innovative, community-focused, and dynamic law enforcement professional to serve as its next Chief of Police.

A summary of key benefits for the Chief of Police is listed below.

Retirement Program – CalPERS Safety: Classic: 3% @ 50 or 3% @ 55 if hired at WC after 11/23/2012 and deemed Classic by CalPERS; PEPRA 2.7% @ 57 if hired at WC on/after 1/1/2013 and deemed New by CalPERS; subject to the California Public Employees' Pension Reform Act of 2013 (PEPRA).

Healthcare – Kaiser HMO or Blue Shield HMO health insurance (15% employee contribution) and fully paid dental, vision, life, and disability insurance. (Generous in-lieu payment to employees who show proof of health insurance coverage.)

457 Plan - Generous City contributions into a 457 Deferred Compensation Plan.

Annual Leave – General Leave balance and accrual available commensurate with experience.

Holiday Leave: 130 hours/year, paid bi-weekly.

Administrative Leave: 96 hours per year.

Management Development Funds - $1,425 per year.
